At Content Europe Lisbon, Prensario spoke with Begoña Esteban, Head of International TV Sales and Acquisitions at Pink Parrot Media, who presented her new series Butterfly Academy (26 x 11’), an animated comedy that focuses on humour and emotional growth.

The story is set in a peculiar school hidden beneath an old maple tree, where young monarch butterflies prepare for their great migration. There, Patrick, Jennifer, Marty and Lily stand out as excellent flyers, but face an unexpected challenge: becoming teachers. With no experience or clear plans, their classes descend into chaotic and hilarious situations, from flying lessons that end in chases to simple tasks that escalate into epic adventures.

The series’ unique selling point lies in its ‘children teaching children’ dynamic, with mischievous pupils putting insecure instructors to the test, creating impossible challenges, power games and promises that are hard to keep. In their attempt not to lose credibility, the protagonists improvise and exaggerate, finding themselves caught up in situations that are as complex as they are hilarious.

The result is a fast-paced sitcom, with a focus on characters, witty dialogue and constant emotional development. According to Esteban, the first 13 episodes will be completed in June, whilst the full season will be ready in July.
