NEM: Globo brings ‘The Playoffs’ to SXSW London

The company will present the international premiere of its new original Globoplay series and participate in a panel discussion on misinformation alongside BBC executives.

Globo will play a prominent role at SXSW London 2026, reinforcing its internationalization strategy through the global distribution of Brazilian content and the exchange of insights on the current challenges facing the audiovisual and media industries.

On June 2, the company will participate in the panel “Truth Under Fire: How Journalism Can Win the Information War,” focusing on the impact of misinformation and the role of professional journalism in a digital ecosystem increasingly saturated with information. The discussion will bring together Rodrigo Carvalho, Globo’s international correspondent in London, and Fiona Crack, acting global director of BBC News and director of BBC World Service.

That same day, Globo will host the international premiere of The Playoffs, a new original Globoplay production developed by Globo Studios. The event will feature a special screening for guests and will be attended by Cauã Reymond, the series’ creator and star, alongside artistic director Bruno Safadi.

Set to premiere in July on Globoplay, the series explores the behind-the-scenes world of professional soccer through the eyes of Maurício, a former player who is trying to reinvent himself as a soccer agent while dealing with family conflicts, rivalries, and the consequences of a past marked by frustration.

The cast includes Mariana Sena, Letícia Colin, Rodrigo Lombardi, Marcos Frota, Juan Paiva, Breno Ferreira, Cauê Campos, Ricardo Teodoro, Marcelo Adnet, Maria Bopp, and Mauricio Mattar, among others. The series was created by Cauã Reymond, written by Thiago Dottori under the supervision of Lucas Paraizo, and directed by Bruno Safadi.
