LAVS Buyers: Stardust Media and the new business models

The pandemic has opened opportunities in different segments of the global content business, allowing new companies from around the world to transform and offer services that make a difference. A good example is Stardust Media (USA), led by MaríaLuz Zucchella, who is acquiring content to distribute on players both on the domestic and international markets.

‘We offer consulting and serve as a sales rep for content depending on the needs of the client. For some clients such as OTT platforms and TV networks, we will negotiate and acquire content for them and help them create their content strategy. Our clients have non-competing interests, so we work with vendors to close multiple deals with our various clients for the same titles whenever possible’, clarifies Zucchella interviewed by Prensario.

With over 50 year’s combined industry experience, each member of the company brings unique assets to the table: Zucchella, it’s founder, has ample experience in acquisitions, original productions and start-ups; Nora Seoane is our programming and kid’s content expert, and Ivy Suarez has a heavier production background, and many years’ experience in acquisitions as well

‘For some clients, we just license some content to fill specific needs. With other clients we are a one-stop-shop solution for all their content needs, and our services include licensing all content, setting up and supervising their programming department; and even develop original productions”, remarks Zucchella.

At LAVS, the company focus is scripted content (movies, series, telenovelas) for US Hispanic and Latin America. ‘We are looking for library content for AVOD deals, as well as some marquee family- friendly titles that audience and brands alike will love. About Kids contents, we are looking for established brand-names and for new engaging content with broad fan-base and merchandising. We recently closed a six-figure deal on a kids’s show’.
