NBCUniversal Formats announces a German adaptation of the hit Korean show «Drive Thru-Oke»

NBCUniversal Formats inked a deal with Munich-based production company SEO Entertainment to bring an adaptation of hit Korean entertainment format Drive Thru-Oke to Germany. The German adaptation, titled Music Drive In, will be hosted by three German music stars, and will launch early next year on the free to air entertainment channel RTLZWEI.

Based on the original Korean format created by Space Rabbit Co. Ltd, the (15×60’) version will see the car becoming a stage of its own, with members of the public attempting to win cash prizes for singing at a talent-driven drive-thru.

The German version follows the recent success of the Brazilian adaptation which features as part of The Eliana Show hosted by the country’s beloved Eliana Bezerra. The series drew in an average of 1.8 million viewers on local TV network SBT, with a 9.5% share. In addition, the series was adapted in Saudi Arabia last year, titled locally as Ghanni Safari, by Dubai-based production company, Ogmented for SBC.

Ana Langenberg, SVP Format Sales & Production, NBCUniversal Formats commented: ‘Working with our partners at SEO Entertainment to expand this highly successful Korean format to the European market has been a thrilling experience. With a fantastic talent line-up, this series promises to serve audiences with a daily dose of fun and entertainment whilst celebrating the Germany’s rich pop culture, making Music Drive In the perfect viewing for all. We’re excited to have this coveted IP continue to expand around the world and for new audiences to discover what makes it so special’.
