NEM: ORF brings “Eroica” to new audiences in Asia

The music production distributed by ORF-Enterprise has gained a new international platform with its premiere on the TaiwanPlus digital platform.

The international expansion of Austrian cultural content has entered a new chapter. ORF-Enterprise announced the premiere of Eroica – Beethoven’s Third Symphony – Styriarte 2023 on the video platform of TaiwanPlus, Taiwan’s public broadcaster, thereby expanding the reach of a production that continues to generate interest beyond Europe.

The concert, licensed by TaiwanPlus through 2025, is now available to audiences in East Asia and other international markets via the broadcaster’s digital service. The release reinforces global demand for high-quality musical offerings linked to Austria’s cultural heritage.

Jessie Shih, director of the Programming Department at TaiwanPlus, noted that the production embodies “the universal power of music, youth, and cultural exchange,” and emphasized the value of bringing Austrian classical tradition to new audiences through a contemporary interpretation.

Recorded during the Styriarte Klangwolke festival in July 2023, the concert features Ludwig van Beethoven’s famous Symphony No. 3 performed by the Styriarte Youth Orchestra under the baton of renowned Taiwanese-American conductor Mei-Ann Chen.

The production was directed by Veronika Hofer-Stein and produced by ORF in collaboration with ORF III and Styriarte. With a runtime of 54 minutes, the work is distributed internationally by ORF-Enterprise, which continues to strengthen the global presence of Austria’s cultural and musical content.
