Paramount is one of the studios that has undergone major transformations: from the merger of Viacom with CBS to the launch of Paramount Global Distribution as a unified brand for international sales of all the group’s catalogs. At MIPTV 2024, the division is presenting its recent portfolio with major productions.
One of its top titles is CTRL+ALT+DESIRE, which follows director Colin Archdeacon ‘s relentless years-long investigation into the grisly murders that rocked a quiet Florida town. The series opens a dark door into the haunting case of Grant Amato, a 29-year-old Florida man accused of murdering his own family execution-style for the love of a girl; and draws on four years of recorded phone calls from a smuggled cell phone and clues scattered across Florida, Eastern Europe and the web to reveal a story far more complex than expected.
Another title is Dora. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation, with full CG animation, the series follows everyone’s favorite bilingual explorer, Dora(Diana Zermeño), and her best monkey friend, Boots(Asher Colton Spence), as they embark on epic adventures in a fantastic rainforest. Guided by the trusty map(Anairis Quiñones), Dora and her friends must work together to overcome many obstacles as they are challenged by the most cunning fox, Swiper(Marc Weiner).
Also, within the formats section, they present The Joe Schmo Show. This is a reality parody in which an ordinary «Joe Schmo» is made to believe that he is part of the cast of a reality show. Unbeknownst to our «Joe Schmo», he is the main character and everyone else is an actor. The series is an elaborate hoax designed to see just how far the actors can go. 12 strangers, outrageous challenges and a production crew ready to react to whatever our unsuspecting Schmo does.
They also host After Midnight, a series inspired by Comedy Central ‘s Emmy Award-winning hit. It’s about the smartest show on television about the dumbest things on the Internet. With celebrity comedian Taylor Tomlinson at the helm and a panel of guests from show business, comedy, music and beyond, After Midnight is a late-night comedy series about what’s been rocking the Internet that day with a quiz show twist.
Finally, Where There’s a Will There’s a Way. The series follows Kari, a famous and influential designer, who loses everything to her husband, Paulo Simone, a high-class guru and coach. He drags her into a scam that ruins her career and her life. At the age of 40, the protagonist must return to the neighborhood where she was born and start over, recovering her life and everything she lost.
