Unifrance: ‘Faussaires’ captivates the industry at Series Mania.

The miniseries Faussaires (The Nefertiti Case) stood out among the six titles presented to international buyers and programmers at the Series Mania Forum, as part of the 11th edition of the “Coming Next from France” showcase. Directed by Eva Husson, the production caught the eye with its blend of art and family secrets.

The drama (4×45’) stars Élodie Bouchez, Soko and Louis-Do de Lencquesaing. The story begins when, in the midst of setting up a major exhibition, the famous bust of Nefertiti is broken. To avoid a scandal, the deputy director of the Union of French Museums devises a plan: to replace it with a perfect replica. The only person capable of pulling this off is ‘La Gorgona’, a brilliant forger who turns out to be her own sister, sent to prison years ago.

The series was created by Clémence Madeleine-Perdrillat, who co-wrote it with Élise Benroubi and Nils-Antoine Sambuc. It is produced by Incognita and Tripode Productions, in co-production with the Belgian company Hélicotronc and Arte France, with support from HBO Max. International sales are handled by Incognita Distribution and Film & Picture.

The event also showcased new projects from France 2 and TF1, confirming the strong momentum of French drama in the global market.
