Warner Bros Discovery: MAX arrives to Europe next May

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) is gearing up for a major expansion as it prepares to launch its streaming service, Max, in several European countries this May. With a lineup that combines HBO Max’s acclaimed programming, Discovery’s engaging real-life entertainment, and Eurosport’s premium sports content, Max promises to deliver an unmatched streaming experience to viewers across the continent.

The eagerly awaited launch of Max is set to take place on May 21st in the Nordics, Iberia, Central and Eastern Europe, with subsequent launches planned in Poland, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium. Notably, the debut in France and Belgium marks WBD’s first streaming service rollout in these countries in over two years. Following its successful launch in the US in May 2023, and subsequent expansion into Latin America and the Caribbean earlier this year, Max will now be available in 25 European countries and a total of 65 countries and territories worldwide.

JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming & Games at WBD, emphasized the significance of Max’s launch in Europe, stating, “Max is the streaming home of Warner Bros Discovery and builds on our long heritage in Europe, bringing together an incredible breadth and depth of culture-defining entertainment from our services and networks, all in one place.» Perrette highlighted the diverse range of content available on Max, from blockbuster HBO Originals like House of the Dragon to exclusive coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

One of the highlights of Max’s European debut is the return of the highly anticipated HBO Original House of the Dragon Season 2, premiering on June 1st. Max boasts an extensive library of content, with more than double the amount currently available on HBO Max. Subscribers can look forward to streaming a wide selection of Warner Bros movies, HBO Originals, and Max Originals, including The Penguin and Welcome to Derry based on Stephen King’s IT.

Sports enthusiasts will also have plenty to enjoy on Max, with a Sports Add-On offering coverage of major international and European sporting events, including tennis Grand Slams, cycling’s Grand Tours, the Tour de France, and winter sports World Championships and World Cup events. Additionally, Max will feature flagship live linear networks in select plans, providing access to channels like CNN International, Eurosport, and more.

With a variety of plans to choose from, including the option to add a Sports Add-On, Max aims to cater to the diverse preferences of its audience. Existing HBO Max subscribers can seamlessly transition to Max while retaining their current profiles and viewing history.

As the countdown to its European launch continues, Max is poised to redefine the streaming landscape, offering viewers unparalleled access to a wealth of premium content across genres and interests.
