MIFA - ANNECY 2025

The main part of MIFA 2025 will be completed today, leaving for Friday just sole meetings and some networking activities. Yesterday big moment was the traditional France TV press conference, today it’s Canal+ time. We may make a wrap up in advance: though the animation industry is in one of our toughest moments ever, due to the financing crisis that affects most of the projects, there are many solutions, tools in process that are already beginning to show results. MIFA this has been a strong engine and showcase for them.

MIFA 2025 deploys today its second official day, after a very active first journey, with many announcements but above all, collaborations, co-productions, alliances. These are the new times… nobody can alone, especially in animation. Mediawan’s traditional press conference and Taiwanese TAICCA spotlight and cocktail, two of the main events yesterday –see the full articles at www.prensariozone.com– are good examples about these. But there are more… see the buyer opinions below.

MIFA 2025 starts officially today, though with the Annecy Festival around, yesterday there was very good moment. It is strange MIFA, because its calendar is June 10-13, but the strongest days are 9-11 inclusive. Yesterday WIA (Women in Animation) developed the three panel blocks of the day, plus a cocktail of Passion Pictures. Then, there was a cocktail by Banijay Kids & Family, where we’ve seen one of the main trends to stress at the market: due to current animation difficulties, leading companies are generating twists to surpass crisis stops.

The Annecy International Animation Film Market (Mifa) is commemorating its 40th anniversary from June 10th to 13th, 2025, marking four decades of evolution as a pivotal hub for the global animation industry. Véronique Encrenaz, director of Mifa, stresses for this year edition its expanded scale, diverse programming, and continued commitment to fostering industry connections and talent development.
